LAS VEGAS — At the CES 2026 tech conference, Finnish electric pioneer Verge Motorcycles effectively moved the goalposts for the entire EV industry. While traditional automotive giants are still deep in R&D, Verge showcased the Verge TS Pro, a production-ready motorcycle featuring a high-density solid-state battery.
The Death of "Range Anxiety"
The TS Pro’s 33.3 kWh solid-state pack reportedly nets a single-charge range of 370 miles (595 km). This nearly doubles the range of the most advanced lithium-ion motorcycles currently on the market. More importantly, the solid-state chemistry allows for extreme thermal stability, enabling:
- Hyper-Charging: 0-to-80% charge in under 10 minutes.
- Combined Range Gain: Up to 60 kilometers of range per minute of charging.
- Torque Supremacy: Maintaining its signature hubless motor, the TS Pro delivers a massive 737 lb-ft of torque.
Why It Matters: The First to Market
While BMW, Volkswagen, and Toyota have all promised solid-state vehicles by the late 2020s, Verge appears to be the first to move the technology from the laboratory to the showroom floor. "Solid-state is no longer a 'moonshot' for us," a Verge representative stated during the reveal. "It is the standard for our 2026 lineup."
Market Analysis
Industry critics remain cautious about the high price tag (expected to exceed $45,000) and the availability of chargers capable of delivering the requisite power. However, the TS Pro serves as a vital proof of concept. It proves that the "short range and long charge times" arguments against electric motorcycles are officially becoming a thing of the past.
